Miami University prides itself on developing outstanding student leaders who are prepared to become productive members of society. The Office of Diversity Affairs (ODA) assists multicultural students by providing programs and activities that enhance personal development and academic success. 

Multicultural Student Leadership Conference (MSLC)

The 6th Annual Multicultural Student Leadership Conference (MSLC) is the annual student-led conference put on by the Office of Diversity Affairs every fall semester. This conference provides students with the opportunity to increase their intercultural awareness, develop leadership skills, and provide resource and information sharing among students to strengthen the presence of diverse students and multicultural organizations on Miami University’s campus.

The 2017 Multicultural Student Leadership Conference will be held on Saturday, December 2nd. The conference presentations will take place, in McGuffey Hall from 11am - 5pm, with check-ins at 11am.

The theme of this year’s conference is "Crossing Borders: Global Leadership and Inclusion 2.0".

Midwestern Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay, Trans, Ally College Conference (MBGLTACC)

The 2018 Midwestern Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay, Trans, Ally College Conference (MBGLTACC) is February 16-18, 2018 in Omaha, NE, hosted by the Chicago Coalition of Queer and Allied Students (CCQAS). The 2018 theme is  All Roads Lead to Intersectionality. This was the first collegiate coalition of schools to host the conference since the first MBLGTQACC in 1993 when it was hosted by Iowa State University and Drake University.

The Midwest Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Ally College Conference is an annual LGBTQIA+ conference that is hosted at a different Midwest college or University or affiliated organization each year. MBLGTACC is a three-day conference with a reputable, entertaining, and inspiring set of speakers and entertainers. Conference weekend has over 90 workshops and forums in which students, staff, faculty, and community members can attend. Conferences are also attended by over 2000 individuals each year.

Please note the following requirements to attend this conference, in additional to completing the online application:

  1. This conference attendance requires travel in a multi-person vehicle.
  2. Two-night stay in Chicago, Illinois.
  3. Multiple occupancies in a hotel room (4 or more people).
  4. We will check with the Dean of Student Office to verify University conduct standing.
  5. Participation fees for attendance will be $50 for non-spectrum members ($40 for dues-paying spectrum members).
  6. You will be responsible for all meal costs at the conference except for the final debriefing lunch on the last day.
  7. Reflection essay and potential presentation to donors.
  8. Submission of University travel forms including but not limited to government issued ID, emergency contact information, liability wavier, and conduct contract.
