Tiffany Turkovich, Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance
Double Major: Humanities
Minor: Musical Theatre

Next Stop: Program Assistant for the Schmidt Vocal institute

This summer Tiffany is working as a program assistant for the Schmidt Vocal Institute in Oxford! The program took place in June and she was really excited for the opportunity.

What do you hope to do after the summer program?

I am hoping to achieve a full-time position with Schmidt Vocal Arts, but I am still applying for jobs. I am also auditioning for local musical theatre opportunities!

How did you find out about this opportunity?

My vocal teacher works for Schmidt Vocal Arts, and he informed me of the opportunity.

What are you most proud of during your time at Miami?

Working as an RA and saving the money that I earned. While I was tempted to get an apartment with my friends, eat out, and spend my money, I was proud of my determination to stay fiscally responsible. I am also proud of all the hard work I did in school and the amazing friends that I made, but being able to teach myself money management was very rewarding.

Please share an inspirational story from your time at Miami.

Torie Wiggins taught our Musical Theatre capstone class, and I could not be more grateful for the wisdom she imparted on us. I consider her to be one of my best mentors from Miami. She graciously met with me one-on-one on multiple occasions to discuss my future and share her experiences. When I was debating on what to do after college, I told her that as much as I wanted to stick with music, I needed a fallback career path. She told me “If you have a fallback, all you are going to do is fall back.” As I continue my search, I hold that reminder close to my heart.
