College of Creative Arts extends its reach
Elizabeth Mullenix, dean of the College of Creative Arts at Miami University, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Her three-year term begins Sept. 1.

Music and Architecture Recognized in 2016 Fiske Guide

New Music Internship Program
During the 2014-15 academic year the Department of Music partnered with concert:nova, Cincinnati's renowned chamber ensemble, to provide an elaborate professional internship opportunity for five Miami brass students. Miami trumpet professor Douglas Lindsay, associate principal trumpet of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and a member of concert:nova, coordinated the program.

Brian Meyers Joins Music Education Faculty
A national search for an assistant professor of music education concluded successfully with the appointment of Brian Meyers to the Miami faculty. Dr. Meyers earned his graduate degrees from Arizona State University and comes to Miami after teaching for four years at Adelphi University in New York, where he also served as coordinator of music education.

Glick Enrichment Fund Awards
Several undergraduate Music majors and one graduate student received funding from the Department of Music's Glick Enrichment Fund, an endowment that supports summer participation in important institutes and festivals. Awards are competitive and determined by a faculty committee.

Per Bloland in the News
Composer Per Bloland, who joined the Miami Music faculty in 2012, received national attention this spring or two different projects. His compact disc Chamber Industrial was released on the important Tzadik label and received two glowing notices in The New York Times. His opera Pedr Solis, commissioned and premiered by Boston's Guerilla Opera, received a glowing notice in the Boston Globe.
