First blockchain conference deemed a success
Even if the weather kept the attendance down a bit, organizers and presenters at the first Miami University Blockchain Conference say the event was a successful start to what will hopefully become an annual event.
The day-long conference brought more than a half-dozen industry leaders and experts to the Wilks Theatre in the Armstrong Student Center to talk about blockchain, its uses, and its future in the business and technology sectors.
Among the speakers were:
- Wendy Henry, Managing Partner and Blockchain Lead for Government and Public Services at Deloitte
- Vasanthi Chalasani, Director of IT & Shared Services at P&G
- John Squires, Co-Founder of Finclusive and Partner and Chairman at Dilworth Paxson, LLP
- Luke Sully, founder and CEO of Custody Digital Group
- Charlie Lougheed, Co-founder and Partner at Unify Project.
- Michael Hiles, Founder and CEO of 10XTS
- Chris Berry, Chief of Staff at Ohio Treasurer's Office
“One of my favorite things I heard from speakers was that our event was very professional and up to the status of other large conferences like Blockland Cleveland. They told us it was organized very well and they made it known we did a great job,” junior economics major and MU Blockchain Club president Ashton Barger said.
Assistant professor of information systems and analytics Arthur Carvalho was also a presenter at the conference. He is teaching the Farmer School’s first blockchain course this semester. “It seems to be a consensus that the presentations were terrific! I for one had a great time and learned a lot throughout the conference. The presenters were very positive about the organization of the event and encouraged us to continue with the conference in years to come, something we definitely plan to do.”
