Google Quotas to Change This Week

This Wednesday, May 22, the Google storage quotas will be turned on. Please check and make sure that you are within your allotted quota before then. Again, if you are still using more than your quota after the 22nd, you will no longer be able to edit files or add files to your Drive. You will retain the ability to view your files and will still be able to move files out of Drive and you will still be able to send and receive emails.

You can check your storage here and, for more information, you can read all about the quotas and the steps you need to take

New Miami WiFi and Radius Certificates

Radius Certificate

The Wi-Fi network will be updated from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. This involves updating the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate.

Following the update, users may experience one or several of these things:

  • Users may be asked to re-authenticate to MU-WIRELESS and eduroam on their various devices;
  • Users may be asked to accept a certificate at radius.miamioh.edu when connecting to MU-WIRELESS;
  • and some users may also have to “forget” the networks and re-add them. For instructions on how to do this, please visit the article in the IT Services Knowledge Base: Unable to connect after 5/21/2024.

Visit here to learn more about the SSL update.

New WiFi

After the radius certificate update, there will be a new SSID (service set identifier) or network name available. It is MiamiOH-Secure. This network is the eventual replacement for the current MU-WIRELESS, and provides increased security standards and leverages enhanced capabilities.

We recommend that all Miami students, faculty, and staff use this new network while on campus, although MU-WIRELESS will remain active for the near future. You will be able to log in to the new network the same way as MU-WIRELESS, by using your UniqueID and MUnet password.

The other new network is MiamiOH-Visitor. It is replacing MU-Guest. This network is available for those visiting campus who do not have Miami network credentials but desire access to Wi-Fi while visiting one of our campuses. After the 22nd, MU-Guest will no longer be available.

You can read our article here for more information about these updates.

A Successful ShredFest!

ShredFest last week was a great success! Amongst the three campuses, we had 112 attendees and 9,100 pounds of paper! Thank you to everyone who attended and helped out. Be on the lookout for an article later this week giving the full recap!
