Service
My most recent, large-scale disciplinary service was as Co-PI for FOCUS Butler County, which provided evidence-based education to teens (2010-2015), in a community-based setting, with the objectives of preventing unplanned pregnancies and STIs. The program was delivered in Butler, Warren, Hamilton, and Montgomery Counties, to females 15-19 years old, in partnership with the YWCA Hamilton. The project was federally funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Adolescent Health.
This single program provided an avenue for my own disciplinary service and research activities, and embedded service-learning experience for hundreds of junior-level nursing students, student internship experiences, and undergraduate research opportunities. Of the ten "high impact educational practices" identified by George Kuh as being widely studied and beneficial to students (Washington, DC: AAC&U, 2008), I instituted eight of the measures by incorporating/facilitating: 1) common intellectual experiences, 2) learning communities, 3) collaborative assignments and projects, 4) undergraduate research, 5) diversity, 6) service-learning, community-based learning, 7) internships, and 8) a form of a senior capstone project.

Current Research
My scholarship agenda over the next three to five years will include completion of two more manuscripts regarding Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP). I have already analyzed data from a four-year qualitative study on teen participant perspectives of TPP programming. I have also already analyzed data from a four-year mixed-methods study on BSN student outcomes related to service-learning. I plan to focus further on collaborative structures as well as systems for quality improvement in nursing education, particularly in regards to leadership methodology.
