Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Our BSN program at Miami balances a classic liberal arts education with professional nursing courses and provides a pathway for nursing leadership roles and entry into the master's program. Our BSN program is offered at both the Oxford and Hamilton campuses. You'll explore health promotion, prevention, restoration, and maintenance for individuals and communities. Clinical study adds a hands-on, real-life experience to round out classroom and laboratory work.

Master of Science in Nursing

Brand new to Miami University, our MSN delivers coursework in an online format that's both affordable and accommodating to students' busy schedules. Pursue one of two academic tracks designed to prepare you for the next step in your career: Family Nurse Practitioner, and Nurse Executive Leadership. Classes, clinical work, and a mid-program on-campus immersion give you the rigorous training you need to earn your master's degree in less than two years. A bachelor's degree in nursing is required for admission.

Doctor of Nursing Practice

Launching in fall 2024, Miami's first doctoral nursing program prepares candidates for future careers in organizational/systems leadership roles. Designed to segue seamlessly from our MSN, the DNP requires traditional classwork—all conducted via an online format—as well as practicum courses. The practicum serves as a comprehensive, systematic assessment of complex organizational environments with a focus on quality improvement and quality outcomes, and coincides with specialty electives and additional clinical work.

Learn more about our faculty and staff.

In Resources

Our Nursing Resource Centers (NRCs) are designed for learning essential nursing skills using low-fidelity manikins, audiovisual materials, and other medical equipment. Staffed by Master's-prepared directors and student employees, the NRCs also feature high-fidelity simulation manikins to add greater depth to student learning by simulating patient experiences.

Miami University's Nursing Simulation Education Center utilizes innovative learning to bridge the gap between theory and clinical education. High-fidelity manikins and/or standardized patient actors are used to enhance nursing assessment and clinical judgment skills by simulating diverse nursing care scenarios
