Market Street at MacCracken offers multiple ways to use your meal plan depending on what you’re purchasing:

  • Meal Swipe Equivalency — Use a swipe at MacCracken Grill for a hot meal ordered through the Grubhub app or kiosk.
  • Meals To Go — Grab a prepackaged meal with a meal swipe that includes a Sprig & Sprout entrée (look for the green sticker), fruit or chips, and a Miami bottled water.
  • Dining DollarsPurchase any food items from the market or grill that are not part of a meal swipe equivalency, including coffee, smoothies, snacks, and other grab-and-go items.
  • MUlaa — Use MUlaa to purchase non-food items like snacks, supplies, or other retail goods available in the market.

This setup gives you maximum flexibility whether you’re stopping by for a full meal, a quick snack, or campus essentials.

Meal Plans

Depending on the level you choose, you’ll receive a set number of meal swipes each week. Unused meal swipes do not roll over from week to week. However, students on the Diplomat Minimum, Plus, and Standard plans receive a special Bonus Week — an extra week’s worth of swipes that do roll forward throughout the semester.

Your meal plan also includes Dining Dollars, which can be used at various dining locations on campus. For continuing students, any unspent Dining Dollars will automatically transfer to your plan for the next semester. We recommend monitoring your balance regularly and budgeting carefully, especially if you’re considering adding more funds before the end of the semester.

Meal plans are designed to give you flexible dining options all semester long. If your current plan isn’t the right fit, you can change it until the first day of the semester (fall and spring) by logging into your housing portal or contacting the Campus Services Center.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s a “meal swipe equivalency”?

It’s when you trade one meal swipe for a preset meal combo (entrée, side, and drink) at select retail locations.

How do I know if I can use a meal swipe at an on-campus location?

Check in the Grubhub app when placing an order. If there is a meal swipe equivalency option, a meal swipe menu will pop up.

Can I use a meal swipe at Starbucks, Panera, or Chik-fil-A?

No. These are Dining Dollars-only locations.

What if I run out of meal swipes?

You can still eat anywhere by using Dining Dollars or paying with a credit/debit card.

How do I know if something qualifies for Meals To Go?

Look for the green Sprig & Sprout sticker at market locations, or ask a staff member.

Can I use Dining Dollars if I don’t have a meal plan?

Yes — if you’re living off campus, in Heritage Commons, or attending a regional campus, you can purchase the Miami Express Meal Plan, which is an all-Dining-Dollar plan. It works like a declining balance and can be used at any dining location. When used at a buffet, the door price applies. Dining Dollars roll over each semester as long as you’re enrolled.

On-campus first- and second-year students are required to have a traditional meal plan.

What’s the difference between Dining Dollars and MUlaa?

Dining Dollars can only be used for food items at dining locations on campus. MUlaa can be used for non-food purchases on campus like vending and items at markets like Market Street at MacCracken.

Can I use more than one meal swipe in a day?

Yes. You can use multiple meal swipes per day — as many as your plan allows. For example, you can swipe for breakfast at a dining commons and then use a meal swipe equivalency for lunch at Bell Tower.

How do I check my Dining Dollars or meal swipe balance?

Log in to the GET Mobile app to check your current meal swipe and Dining Dollars balances in real time.

Can I use a meal swipe for someone else?

Meal swipes are intended for the meal plan holder’s use only. However, Dining Dollars or a credit/debit card can be used to pay for someone else.

What happens if I run out of Dining Dollars?

You can easily add more Dining Dollars at any time through the OneStop website.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Most locations, including Meals To Go, offer made-without-gluten options and allergen-friendly choices. Look for signage or ask staff for assistance. You can also connect with our on-campus dietitians for free — they’re available to help you navigate dining with food allergies, intolerances, or other dietary needs.
