Meet the Coaches
Kevin Ackley
Senior Arena Director
Kevin played Jr. Hockey in the USHL with Fargo/Moorhead and the Chicago Steel. He developed into a DI player earning himself a scholarship to St. Lawrence University. Kevin played at SLU from 2001–2006 and started at Miami June 2006. He has coached ACHA Men’s hockey, high school and AAA hockey in the tri-state area along with overseeing Goggin Ice Center as the Senior Director.
“I am excited to begin this journey with Miami Youth Hockey. I feel we can have an impact on developing young people into great hockey players and more importantly great people. I am biased, but I believe young hockey players learn more life lessons through our game than any others.”
Ryan Gayso
Director of Hockey
Ryan Gayso joins Miami from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he grew up playing hockey. He attended Robert Morris University and was a goaltender for their ACHA and NCAA Division I program. After graduating, Ryan moved on to work with Total Package Hockey throughout Alabama and Indiana in a number of different capacities. Ryan was the assistant coach with the Point Mallard Ducks in the NA3HL, the goaltending coordinator with the Tri-State Spartans, and a skill development coach at the Center of Excellence in Indianapolis throughout his tenure with TPH. Most recently he worked with his alma mater as the volunteer assistant coach with the Women's NCAA Division I team at RMU, where they won their conference and earned a bid to the NCAA tournament. Ryan previously was the Assistant Director of Ice Hockey at Goggin Ice Center.
Zach Sens
Assistant Director Ice Hockey Player Development
Zach Sens joins Miami after working at Trine University working with their college and youth hockey programs. Zach is an Oxford, Ohio native who attended Talawanda High School and went on to study at Miami University and Southern New Hampshire University. Zach has previously coached in the Miami Youth Hockey organization as the 14UAA coach for three seasons. Zach then moved on to coach Talawanda High School for two seasons, being named Coach of the Year for OHSAA in his last season. Zach most recently coached at Trine University as their Mens Head ACHA D3 Ice Hockey coach and worked with their youth programs. Zach will work as the Assistant Director of Ice Hockey Player Development as well as becoming the head coach of the Miami Youth Hockey High School hockey team.
