Preparation for General Chemistry

This winter term, Miami University's Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry will offer Preparation for General Chemistry, a fully online, non-mandatory, self-paced, three-week preparatory course (Jan. 2–27), available to undergraduate students.

This non-credit program* is designed to help facilitate the successful transition to college-level general chemistry (CHM 141), a challenging course for many students. This program will help students review key chemistry concepts with an emphasis on mathematics skills and logical thinking so that they can hit the ground running in CHM 141.

The instructor has handpicked the topics that will prepare students for college-level chemistry. The instructor will be monitoring each student's progress and will provide personalized feedback and instruction through virtual interactions. This program will use ALEKS (Artificial LEarning in Knowledge Spaces), a web-based, artificially intelligent assessment and learning system.

*A non-credit program will not appear on student's transcript, DARS report, or bursar account.
