Students in a CraftSummer Enameling Class pose wearing protective masks

For over 25 years, our CraftSummer program has provided classes and workshops during the summer to strengthen creativity, develop personal expression, and provide a sense of community among people interested in art, design, and the crafts. During five summer weeks, nearly 30 nationally-selected instructors offer programs that have gained a growing reputation for bringing together artists and craftspeople.

CraftSummer envisions opportunities to make the program even more diverse by fostering multicultural and international contacts.

Art Center

The Art Center has studios for ceramics, metalsmithing, photography, and woodworking. The Center's studios are used for CraftSummer as well as sprint (one-and-a-half credit hour) courses during the academic year. The Art Center is located in Phillips Hall. Art Center sprint classes include Ceramics, Drawing, Glass, Metals, Photography, Sewing and Woodworking.

Saturday Art

The Saturday Art program is staffed by faculty and students (both undergraduate and graduate) from the Art Education area. This activity is listed for the undergraduate students as ART 303, "Practicum in Art Education," and it provides important supervised teaching experience for the students. This very successful and popular program serves the greater Oxford community and is open to anyone from ages 5 through adult.

Online Workshops

CraftArtEdu’s class offerings includes craft and fine art courses designed for all experience levels. Novices can explore new media, while experienced artisans will be challenged by our more advanced courses. These approximately one hour classes allow the participant to complete a specific project in topics such as bookmaking and jewelry.
