Writing Fellows Grants

Faculty members who have completed the Howe Faculty Writing Fellows Program are then eligible to apply for large grants ($2,000-$5,000) that will move forward the teaching, learning, study, and assessment of writing in their departments, programs, and disciplines. Grants will be considered for curriculum design, research, and assessment projects. These grants should be used as leverage for faculty to pursue larger external grants and result in high-impact presentations, publications, or program re-designs.

Applicants may request multi-year funds to enable longitudinal projects.

As long as funds are available, faculty members and departments are not limited in the number of Howe Faculty Writing Fellows Grants they may receive, as long as they are continuing the work of improving the teaching and learning of writing, studying and assessing writing, or working to impact policy and practice related to writing at the local, regional, or national level.

Howe Faculty Writing Fellows who are interested in applying for grants to continue their projects should contact Elizabeth Wardle at
