Among nation's best for commitment to teaching
- For nine years in a row, U.S. News & World Report has ranked Miami among the top five universities nationally for strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. In the 2019 report, Miami ranks third nationwide, in good company with Princeton, Georgia State, and Dartmouth.
High graduation and retention rates
- Miami’s four year graduation rate is 17th in the nation among public colleges and universities and 1st among publics in Ohio. Our six-year graduation rate is in the top 35 nationally, among public universities.
- Miami's overall retention rate of 91% ranks it among the best in the nation for students returning for their sophomore year.
- Graduation success rate for student-athletes in 2018 is 94%. This is the percentage of eligible-to-graduate student-athletes who graduate within six years.
Active and ambitious students
- Miami students are busy! Nearly 100% of Miami students have had at least one internship or similar practiced learning experience before they graduate. Each year, more than 2,000 undergraduates work with professors on funded research (many beginning their first year).
- Miami was one of five national universities to earn the 2012 President's Award for Community Service, and in 2014 won the Presidential Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction for the eighth year in a row.
- Miami is ranked 3rd in the nation for Study Abroad participation.
Outstanding preparation for a vast array of careers, from start to finish
- 585 employers attended one or more of Miami's career fairs in 2016-17. Nearly twice as many employers recruit at Miami compared to other universities our size, and conduct 4 times as many interviews.
- 97.3% of 2016-2017 graduates were employed or furthering their education by Fall of 2017 (per surveys and national data).
- 79.4% of Miami undergrads are accepted into medical school (average is 43.3% nationally) and 96% are accepted into law school (average is 86%).
