At-Risk Training

At-Risk Training is an online interactive training on recognizing signs of distress and connecting students to support services.

Learning Objectives:

  • Begin to establish a culture of care by creating a community where if you see something, you say something.
  • Understand the values in Miami’s Code of Love and Honorand begin to develop a sense that you have the capacity and ethical responsibility to act in ways consistent with the Code of Love and Honor.
  • Learn strategies and ways to intervene in situations with their peers who are in physical, emotional or psychological distress, through completion of the At-risk gatekeeper training.

Program Description:

At-Risk for college students is a peer-to-peer training on identifying, approaching and referring friends experiencing psychological distress, including depression and suicidal ideation.

This online training program will help students practice interacting with fellow students and learn how to help a friend in distress.

Instructions for Accessing the Training:

  1. Go to: https://ohio.kognito.com/
  2. To create your account, select "Click Here” and follow the on-screen instructions. 
  3. To start the simulation select "Launch".
  4. The training will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.
  5. To receive credit, you will need to print a copy of the certificate of completion at the end of the course.
