Miami professor gives Chautauqua Institution lecture series commemorating women's suffrage
August 18, 2020 marked the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which guaranteed women the right to vote. To commemorate this date, Kimberly A. Hamlin has been conducting a discussion-oriented 3-part master class on the history of women's suffrage and women’s rights in the United States, hosted by the Chautauqua Institution.

Lindsay Schakenbach Regele (PhD Brown, '15) and Andrew Offenburger (PhD Yale, '14) of the Department of History have recently published their own books, but it was no easy task. Turning graduate school dissertations into published works meant both scholars endured a lot of rethinking, recrafting, breakthroughs, self-doubt, and feelings of reward.

New majors, a new department, approved by Miami trustees

Anderson - The Forgotten Legacy of Stella Walsh: The Greatest Female Athlete of Her Time
Stella Walsh, who was born in Poland but raised in the United States, won gold and silver in the 100 meters for Poland at the 1932 and 1936 Olympics. She also won more than forty U.S. national championships, set dozens of world records, and was inducted into the National Track and Field Hall of Fame.
