Miami's new LSAMP coordinator prioritizes getting students in tune with the campus community
The Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) 4-year honors program at Miami is staying busy this fall semester. Coordinated by Breion Hawkins, LSAMP’s goal is to provide connection and opportunity for historically underrepresented minority STEM students.

The Janus Forum to address the impact of cryptocurrency on money, markets, and governance
This semester, the biannual Janus Forum welcomes two financial experts on the digital payment system known as cryptocurrency: former White House senior economic advisor Todd Buchholz and 43rd U.S. Treasurer Rosie Rios. They will discuss whether cryptocurrency is “the Future of Money, or the End of the State as We Know It?” on October 6, 2021, from 6:30 to 8 pm in Miami’s Wilks Theater.

This year's SUSI program, despite being virtual, creates lasting impacts on both its Miami and international participants
In a departure from its traditional in-person format, this summer Miami University held a virtual Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) for Student Leaders workshop for students from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Panama, Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela. The program is run by Juan Carlos Albarrán, professor of global and intercultural studies.

Five CAS students named Hannon Armstrong Climate Solutions Scholars
Five undergraduate CAS students, all seniors, have been awarded the Hannon Armstrong Foundation Climate Solutions Scholarship to help them pursue careers related to climate action and sustainability. The establishment of this new scholarship was announced in May.

Miami's new Physician Associate Program begins preparing a new generation of holistic healthcare professionals
Earlier this year, Miami unveiled plans for a new physician associate graduate program, which offers a versatile, integrated, and interdisciplinary approach in managing and treating patients. It will be guided under the direction of associate teaching professor Christopher Howell.

Braving new challenges, Miami's Inside Washington Program concludes a successful summer in Washington DC
This summer, 19 Miami undergraduates from a spectrum of majors spent an exhilarating ten weeks in Washington, DC for the university’s renowned Inside Washington Program -- one of the few such Miami programs that was able to proceed this year despite the ongoing pandemic.
