First Years Can Get Involved, Too!
Upon acceptance into their selected program, incoming freshmen students have the option to live in a Living Learning Community (LLC) on campus. These are groups of like-minded students that typically live on the same floor of a residence hall together.

In Remembrance of Dr. Osama Ettouney
On Sunday, Dec. 1, Osama Ettouney, professor emeritus in Miami’s Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Department (MME), passed away at the age of 68 after a battle with cancer.

An evening with Engineers Without Borders (EWB)
On Saturday, Nov. 16, Engineers Without Borders (EWB) hosted their annual gala in Armstrong’s Fritz Pavilion, where they showcased their hard work to family, friends and Miami faculty.

MME Student Attends ASME Collegiate Council
Brown, a junior mechanical engineering major, was one of only 22 students accepted into the Petroleum Division of the council. These are both undergraduate as well as graduate students who have expressed interest in the oil and gas industry as a potential career path.

ECE department works toward developing Robotics Engineering major
The prospective RE major is pan-disciplinary, with a curriculum that spreads across three departments: CSE, ECE and MME. Eight new courses have been designed specifically for the major, including Computer Vision, Kinematics of Robotics and Sensors and Data Fusion.

On Wednesday, Nov. 6, Mark Kowlzan, CEO of the Packaging Corporation of America (PCA), hosted a formal dinner for CEC students in the Shriver Heritage Room.

Women's Advisory Committee Member Spotlight: Lyndsey McMillon-Brown
McMillon-Brown completed her undergraduate degree at Miami, graduating in 2013 as a double major in manufacturing and mechanical engineering. After Miami, she attended Yale University and graduated in May of 2019 with a masters of science and a Ph.D in chemical engineering.

Society of Women Engineers to Attend National Conference
From Nov. 7-9, five members of Miami’s chapter of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) will be attending the SWE national conference located in Anaheim, CA.

Dassault's "Reveal the World" Tour Comes to Campus
On the evening of Oct. 24, Dassault Systemes’s “simulation on wheels” arrived on campus and was set up between Hughes and Laws halls. The attraction was open for students to interact with starting the next day until 4 p.m.
