Congratulations to The Department of Family Studies and Social Work‘s recent graduate Maggie Botts who was selected for the President’s Distinguished Service Award given by Miami University’s Division of Student Affairs. This award is presented to approximately 15 students each year whose service through campus life, community service, intellectual and cultural leadership, or as a university employee, demonstrates the spirit of being a citizen leader of uncommon quality. Nominations are submitted by faculty and staff on the Oxford, Hamilton, Middletown, and Luxembourg campuses, as well as by community members. “Maggie is one of our top social work students,” said College of Education, Health and Society faculty nominator, Terri Spahr Nelson, “She has an impressive list of accomplishments as a Miami student, including representing all social work students in the state on the Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers’ Board. We are proud of Maggie and know she will reflect highly on Miami University in the years to come as a Social Worker and as an advocate for justice.”
