Congratulations to a New Class of Faculty Writing Fellows
This Fall, our Faculty Writing Fellows program hosted faculty teams from the Havighurst Center for Russian & Post-Soviet Studies and from Justice and Community Studies. Over the course of the semester, the teams considered threshold concepts in their disciplines and prepared projects aimed at using writing in their curriculum to promote deep learning.

HWC Writing Contest Features Reflections on the Year 2020
Results are in for the Howe Writing Center's latest writing contest: Here & Now, Current Moments: Experiencing 2020. Co-First Prize winners were Aiyana White and Ethan Maguire. Runner-up was Gabe Porter. Lauren Racela earned a staff choice honor. Thank you to all who shared their stories with us.

Help Us Honor Professor Kate Ronald and Her Legacy
Professor Kate Ronald, beloved teacher, mentor, and colleague, passed away on October 27, 2020. In her 20-year tenure at Miami, Kate cultivated a community of writing at Miami as the first Roger & Joyce L. Howe Professor of English and the inaugural director of the Howe Writing Initiative. We've created a webpage to honor Kate's memory, which you can contribute to through an interactive message board.
