Miami University rolls out employee certification program co-developed with Cleveland Clinic
Through Miami’s Center for Analytics and Data Science (CADS), Miami and Cleveland Clinic developed a certificate program for industry professionals who are seeking to enhance their data and quantitative literacy skills. The pilot program rolls out in the spring of 2021 with Enterprise Analytics employees at Cleveland Clinic.
“Our job is to set the foundation, provide statistical prowess and literacy among the many supporting members of Cleveland Clinic’s workforce,” said Sandy Steiger, director of CADS.
This certification will provide employees with education and training in business analytics and statistical model deciphering. Courses within the program include a high-level overview of statistics to obtain a better understanding of quantitative and data analysis.
“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Cleveland Clinic,” President Greg Crawford said. “The university provides great value to our state and nation by responding to the demands of the workforce and providing innovative and creative solutions.”
Miami University’s CADS has collaborated with experts at Cleveland Clinic since 2015, building programming within the center and at Miami.
Cleveland Clinic is a nonprofit, multi-specialty academic medical center integrating clinical and hospital care with research and education.
CADS is a multidisciplinary effort to bring together students and faculty from across the university, including from departments such as information systems and analytics, statistics, computer science, marketing and accountancy.
The center strives to provide an innovative environment where students and faculty can work together in the fields of analytics and data science. As data becomes a driving force in much of our modern world, CADS provides a collaborative environment to build the problem solvers of the future.
Miami University’s Boldly Creative Initiative is providing investments in developing a transdisciplinary approach to data analytics. In addition, a $20 million alumnus gift will fund construction of the Richard M. McVey Data Science Building, which will house CADS among other programs and departments at Miami.
