Board of Trustees extends President Crawford’s contract until 2029

Miami University’s Board of Trustees authorized an extension to President Gregory Crawford’s contract for an additional two years during the Sept. 19 board meeting.

President Crawford’s contract will run through June 30, 2029. The board increased his salary 3% to $572,335 and also approved a $75,000 bonus. President Crawford is serving in his ninth year as president of Miami.

“The Board of Trustees is thrilled with President Crawford’s leadership of Miami University and his ability to inspire the change needed to lead Miami into the future,” said Mary Schell, chair of the Board of Trustees. “The accomplishments over the past year have been tremendous, and his commitment to the success of our students and our community is evident and unwavering.”

The board also approved Strategic Initiatives Fund Resolution R2025-07, which dedicates a fund of $35 million from the university’s reserve for investment fluctuation fund for the purpose of funding new initiatives as identified through MiamiTHRIVE.

MiamiTHRIVE is the university’s strategic planning process, which identifies opportunities to strengthen Miami to support its teaching, research, and service missions.

“The board is so pleased with the work that has been done to advance our university in this strategic planning process,” Schell said. “We are so grateful to the hundreds of faculty and staff who have participated in sharing feedback and generating ideas. We are energized by the momentum and excited to further this important work.”
