Professional Education at Miami University refers to development opportunities available to professionals who have already completed an academic degree and are looking to upscale their credentials to further their success in their field. Commonly, these programs and courses allow individuals to acquire specific professional competencies for their current or prospective job title. Professional Education's opportunities enable working professionals to remain competitive and marketable within the workforce and increase their chances for advancement. These educational experiences typically commemorate mastery of knowledge or skills with certificates and/or badges of completion that are shareable with employers.
Industries and technologies are constantly advancing. Miami University Online's Office of Professional Education ensures that your skills progress simultaneously.
- Certificate of Completion: Certificate issued to Professional Education course participants that successfully complete all course work and assessments
- Badge: An alternative to certificates of completion, often simpler to virtually display and share
Some courses may reward both a badge and a certificate of completion.
Miami University, including Miami Online's Office of Professional Education, uses Canvas as its learning management system. You can access course content, engage in discussion, and complete course assignments on a laptop, tablet, or mobile device. Miami University Online's Office of Professional Education uses Canvas Catalog to offer online courses and programs to individuals interested in non-credit courses outside degree programs. The platform allows learners to register for courses, complete secure payments, and access Canvas course content seamlessly.
At this time, Miami University's Professional Education courses are limited to individuals residing in the United States. We hope to expand our offerings to include international learners in the future. To get started, visit Miami's Catalog. At the top-right of the webpage, there will be a "Login" button and a "Register" button. If you already have a Canvas account with us, you can click "Login." All current Miami University faculty, staff, and students should be able to log in with their Miami credentials.
Once you click on "Login," a new screen prompts you to select how you would like to access your Canvas Catalog account. If you have a MiamiOH.edu email address, please select "MiamiOH (SSO) login" and follow the steps for Single Sign-On. If you do not have a Miami email address, please select "Guest Login" and follow the steps to log in to the platform with your outside email address.
Once you have completed the login steps, the site will return you to Miami University's Canvas Catalog homepage. If you have any questions during this process, please get in touch with professionaled@MiamiOH.edu.

If you want to enroll in the course, you can click "Enroll Now" on that course page and follow the steps to register.
