Dr. David DeLaet

Medical Director

Dr. David DeLaet is Associate Professor, Medical Director, and Chair of the Board of Directors for the Mallory-Wilson Center at Miami University   Additionally, he is Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine as well as Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.

A 1991 graduate of Miami University, Dr. DeLaet, was awarded his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Cincinnati in 1995 before completing a residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center 1999. After residency, he continued his studies, receiving a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health in 2001 while also completing a fellowship in General Internal Medicine at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. DeLaet is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has served on faculty at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and the Columbia University College of Physician and Surgeons.

With more than twenty years of clinical experience in pediatrics, adolescent medicine, and internal medicine, he has been able to provide care for underserved communities through academic-based clinical sites and Federally Qualified Health Centers in both Cincinnati and New York City throughout his career.

Since 2012, he has been a member of Mount Sinai’s Program for the Protection of Human Subjects. His academic interests have largely focused on the care of young adults with chronic conditions of childhood onset, and he has served on national committees and has several published articles and textbooks dedicated to this topic. He additionally is interested in inequities in health outcomes and has served as a guest lecturer on health inequities at Drake University’s John Dee Bright College and has co-authored a textbook on the globalization of disease and wellness.
