Biography
Christy Carr is a designer, artist, writer, educator, storyteller, and mental health advocate. Committed to making a positive impact on the world, Christy’s passion for finding human-centered solutions to complex problems motivates her collaborative working style. Her expertise lies at the intersection of creativity, communication, change, learning, and technology. Christy leverages this intersection to co-create compelling experiences that engage people emotionally and intellectually. At the core of her work is the belief that making a better world begins with understanding the influence of awareness, language, and experiences on mindsets, beliefs, and behaviors.
In 2018, Christy led the redesign of the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital mental health outreach program, Adapt for Life (AFL). Under her direction, AFL continues to evolve as the focus and experience of the program to adapt to the needs of its constituent age groups, Christy also collaborates closely with Cincinnati Children’s AFL program director to identify growth and funding opportunities. In 2021, AFL expanded and launched to two Hamilton County school districts and a key Cincinnati Public School elementary school. As of 2021, Adapt for Life reached more than 20,000 children and their teachers and families—and is still growing.
Christy’s other work includes leading a project for the U. S. Air Force Academy’s (USAFA) Center for Character and Leadership Development (CCLD) where, as Principal Investigator, managing consultant, and product owner for Advance, a leadership development app designed specifically for USAFA. The Advance app functions to allow USAFA Cadets to reflect on their experiences, connect with Mentors, and build a leadership story portfolio as they develop as leaders of character. USAFA Cadets experience with Advance is rooted in mental wellness and resiliency.
Christy is a Miami University alumna who earned her BFA with a double major in graphic design and fine art photography.
