Biography
Julie Froude has been teaching the elementary general music methods course in the Miami University Department of Music since 2023. She teaches K-6 general music at Brookwood Elementary School in the Hamilton City Schools, where she leads an Orff percussion ensemble. Froude directs the Chancel Choir at Faith Lutheran Church in Oxford and also serves as Program Chair on the board of the Greater Cincinnati Area Orff chapter. She is active as a presenter for state, regional, and national music conferences.
Froude previously taught Japanese at Miami University. She also taught a number of sprint courses in Japanese language and culture for the Farmer School of Business Pacific Rim management course. She has taught K-12 music (band, choral, strings, and general music) in Indiana, Virginia, and at Nagoya International School in Japan. Froude was raised in Japan and is fluent in Japanese. She played with the Miami University Taiko Drumming Club for four years.
Froude is passionate about mentoring pre-service and beginning music educators, as well as fostering authentic multicultural experiences for all of her students.
