Dr. Kane has won or placed in many national flute competitions, including the National Flute Association competitions, the Frank Bowen Young Artist Competition, and the Myrna Brown Young Artist Competition. She has made concerto appearances with the Mason Community Band, Lakota Bands, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, Blue Ash Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, and has been a featured artist for the Hamilton Mozart Festival.
In 2003, Dr. Kane attended "Nordic Flute" in Gothenburg, Sweden, where she studied with Swedish flutist Göran Marcusson. In the summer of 2006, she performed in the festival orchestra for The Opera Theatre and Music Festival of Lucca, Italy. She has performed in masterclasses for Emmanuel Pahud, Jim Walker, Göran Marcusson, Jean-Michel Tanguy, Jill Felber, Randy Bowman, Bradley Garner, and Jack Wellbaum.
Although trained as a classical orchestral flutist, Dr. Kane also specializes in extended techniques for flute. Her doctoral lecture recital focused on the works of Ian Clarke, who is known for his modern compositions involving extended techniques.
