The Department of Interdisciplinary and Communication Studies (ICS) aims to provide students with a rigorous background in their chosen major, the ability to connect and synthesize knowledge and skills from multiple sources and experiences, apply knowledge and skills in varied settings, analyze diverse points of view, develop an appreciation for intercultural competence and respect for human identity and diversity, and understand issues contextually. Regardless of the selected degree, majors housed within ICS will allow students to pursue coursework from multiple fields of study, departments, and disciplines, making connections among them and pursuing a degree program that meets their career, educational, or personal goals. Our graduates will have demonstrated expertise as critical, creative, and reflective thinkers, self-directed problem-solvers, communicators, collaborators and integrators, as well as specific content knowledge in a variety of areas.
