Lois Gillis Brown earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in History and English, a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Paralegal Studies, and a Master of Arts (MA) in History from Samford University in Birmingham, AL. She was an adjunct faculty member at Miami University for six years, teaching college reading, English composition, and study skills before joining the Tutoring & Learning Center full time in 2014. Her other work experience includes law offices, libraries, art centers, and manuscript editing. Lois is a voracious reader who enjoys mystery, history, and theology, and loves helping students succeed.
Melissa Carrion is a native Arkansan, lover of learning, and mom to one son, Andrew. She studied English and Spanish as an undergraduate at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and earned her Master's in Teaching English from Wright State University in 2013. She has worked in higher education as a writing instructor, English language instructor, tutor, and student success coach for the past eleven years and has been at Miami Regionals for five of those. A TRIO McNair Scholars Program alumna, her love and appreciation for TRIO led her to her current position as student success coach for TRIO Student Support Services at the Middletown campus. She is an animal lover and has a passion for advocating for those who cannot advocate for themselves.

Hamilton TRIO Coach Melanie Ann Fields grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. She developed a love for teaching, coaching, and tutoring students while pursuing her undergraduate and graduate studies BA in English Literature (May 11 2002), MA English with a specialization in scientific and technical writing, and a MS in Technical Communication and Information Design at Bennett College, Bowling Green State University (BGSU) (August 7, 2004), and Illinois Institute of Technology (Dec. 12 2012) respectively. She has 21 PhD credits from IIT as well. She has taught various online and face-to-face English and communication classes at both public and private institutions in both rural and urban settings from 2002-2022. She has worked with ESL students and tutored students at various writing centers and summer programs. At Miami University, Melanie has worked as part-time English Language Learner instructor in the ELC, a professional tutor and ELL workshop facilitator in the TLC and currently as the Hamilton student success coach for the TRIO program. She enjoys traveling, playing tennis and pickleball, reading, and writing in her spare time.
