Miami University Regionals to focus on "Share the Love" in February, hosts supply drive and educational events for infant mortality awareness.
Miami University Regionals is hosting a series of events in February on infant mortality awareness at home and abroad. During the entire month of February, Miami Regionals is also hosting a supply and charity drive for these causes.
Events:
On Monday, February 13, 10 a.m., Jenny Bailer (RN, MS, APHN-BC), Butler County Health Commissioner, Natalie Jones (CCHW), LaTouia Foster (CCHW), and Dr. Paul Flaspohler (Miami Psychology Department), will give a lecture titled "Get Local: Infant Mortality in Butler County" to help you learn about the partnership to reduce infant mortality. This event will be held on the Middletown campus in Johnston Hall 136/137.
On Tuesday, February 14, 10 a.m., Dr. Melissa Thomasson, Miami's Farmer School of Business, will share her on infant mortality titled "Get 'Local': Infant Mortality Abroad and At Home." This event will be held on the Hamilton campus in Wilks Conference Room B.
On Wednesday, February 15, 10 a.m., Sheree Young (RN, CLPC), Help Endure a Loss (HEAL) Program Coordinator, Premier Health/Atrium Medical Center, will give a lecture titled "Get HEALing: How Can You Help When a Child Dies." This event will be held on the Middletown campus in Johnston Hall 136/137.
On Wednesday, February 22, 1 p.m., Jenny Bailer (RN, MS, APHN-BC), Butler County Health Commissioner; with Natalie Jones (CCHW) and LaTouia Foster (CCHW) will give a lecture titled "Get Going: Aiding Infant Mortality Prevention Efforts in Butler County." The event will take place on the Middletown campus in Johnston Hall Room 142.
Donations:
For the International Supply Drive, please bring in baby clothes and children's medical supplies for orphans in Haiti through February 10 to the Johnston Hall Information Desk at Middletown or 122 Schwarm Hall in Hamilton. Supplies will be delivered in February by members of The River Church to the the Northwest Haiti Christian Mission.
For the efforts in Butler County, "High Hopes: Helping Infants Grow Healthy" is seeking diapers and wipes from February 13-28 which can be brought to the Johnston Hall Information Desk in Middletown or 122 Schwarm Hall in Hamilton.
During the entire month of February, Miami Regionals will also host a Baby Bottle Penny Challenge. Pick up a baby bottle at the Information Desk in Johnston Hall or 122 Schwarm Hall. Throw in your pocket change throughout the month and return the bottle by Feb. 28. Support your favorite charity - Butler County Partnership to Reduce Infant Mortality Program (local) or USAID (international). The winning charity will be given an additional $200 by Miami! Each $1 donation gets you a lollipop and an entry into a drawing for a free iPad.
