Faculty Announces Virtual Events for College Exploration Process

Miami University Regionals will host Faculty Focus: Virtual Faculty Panels on Thursday, May 28,  Thursday, June 25 and Thursday, July 30, at 2 p.m.

In these Facebook Live events, Miami Regionals faculty members will discuss frequently asked questions prospective and first-year students have about the classroom experience. Audience questions are encouraged. 

On May 28, faculty panelists will tackle questions such as what is the most important thing for students to keep in mind when choosing a major to what unique experiences do Regionals students have available to them. Faculty panelists are Dr. Mark Krekeler, associate professor of geology, Jennifer Purdum, visiting assistant professor of art and studio art, and Dr. Helane Androne, Department Chair of Interdisciplinary & Communication Studies and professor of English.

On June 25, faculty panelists will share how to make a connection with faculty to get the most out of the college experience and offer advice for high school juniors starting the college search process. Faculty panelists are Dr. John Forren, Department Chair of Justice & Community Studies and associate professor in political science, Dr. DJ Ferguson, associate professor of microbiology, and Jill Gomez, senior lecturer of Spanish.

On July 30, faculty panelists will explain what office hours are and why students are encouraged to attend them and what is the most important reason to go to college. Faculty panelists are Dr. Mert Bal, associate professor and coordinator of the electro-mechanical engineering technology program, Donna Evans, senior lecturer of computer & information technology, Dr. Sree Subedi, Department Chair of Social and Behavioral Sciences and professor of sociology.
