Matthew Regele's research explores how individuals interpret and respond to conflicting or incomplete information in organizational settings, as well as the macro-level implications of those responses. One stream of his work considers organizations with competing missions, such as social enterprises. Dr. Regele examines how organization members navigate the tensions created by these competing missions, and how their efforts impact organization-level outcomes, such as innovation. In a second steam of work, he is examining the experiences of startup employees. In particular, Dr. Regele is interested in the human capital and labor market outcomes associated with startup employment, and how and why these outcomes may diverge from employees' expectations. Dr. Regele teaches courses on topics including innovation, strategy, organizational theory, and research methods.
