Support Paper Science Students

The PS&E Foundation supports the Chemical, Paper and Biomedical Engineering Department at Miami University by providing scholarships and work experience opportunities to students studying for careers of leadership in the pulp and paper industry.

>How can you help?

There are many ways to meaningfully support the paper students at Miami University:

  • Become an annual member of the PS&E Foundation
  • Start and complete a named scholarship endowment with the PS&E Foundation
  • Direct your gift to an already existing endowment fund of your choice within the PS&E Foundation
  • Provide specific financial support for the faculty through contract research or by funding a research project through the PS&E Foundation
  • Fund a graduate research project through the PS&E Foundation
  • Hire a summer intern, co-op student or permanent employee from our qualified engineering graduates that are highly trained in paper technology

Endowments In Progress

There are currently five scholarship endowments in progress that are available to receive contributions today:

  • International Paper Alumni - allows current and former employees of International Paper to support Miami’s paper technology students
  • Nalco Chemical Alumni - allows current and former employees of Nalco Chemical Co. to support Miami’s paper technology students
  • Paperitalo Publications - as a corporate PSEF member, the company has committed to monthly deposits towards a fully endowed scholarship
  • Charles W. and Beth A. Stahr - started by a prominent alumnus of the program, when fully endowed this scholarship will be awarded to a student studying paper technology curriculum
  • Chris Peterson Honorary - a second scholarship is in progress that honors Dr. Peterson's contribution to the department, the foundation and the industry

Other Giving Opportunities

In addition to contributing towards an endowed scholarship fund, PS&E Foundation supporters can also:

  • Become an annual member - annual financial support of the PS&E Foundation is used to supplement the scholarship obligations not fully covered by endowed scholarship funds
  • Direct a contribution - a single gift can be directed for use towards the PS&E Foundation’s scholarship funds
  • Support Student TAPPI - gifts made directly to the student’s professional association are used to enable field trips and group activities under the leadership of the elected officers and guided by the staff / faculty advisors
  • Facilities Support - gifts in kind of equipment or supplies help meet the needs of current students
  • Faculty Support - Miami’s world-class faculty assure the best possible paper science and engineering curriculum is taught to all students entering the pulp and paper industry; support of their research initiatives helps maintain their status in the industry's technical community
