Student Conduct at Miami

The Office of Community Standard’s primary purpose is to safeguard the learning environment of Miami University by upholding its standards for student conduct. In order to do that we must maintain a system for doing so. While it is not our intent that the system be confusing we realize that it can be for a student who has never been involved in the student conduct process.

Staff in our office are the best resource for current information about how the process works, what a student's rights are within the process, and how to prepare for a hearing. While it may be natural to ask a friend, a parent, or attorney for advice, we are the experts and are happy to answer your questions via email or phone. Please feel free to contact us at (513) 529-1417 or CommunityStandards@MiamiOH.edu.

Can I be tried in the municipal court and by the University? Isn't this double jeopardy?

The University may pursue disciplinary action even if criminal charges are incomplete, reduced, or dismissed.
