Nearly 70 prospective students and their families assembled in Benton Hall on Saturday, September 25 for Miamis Discover the Sciences event. Discover the Sciences is an annual event held by the College of Arts and Science (CAS) in tandem with the Office of Admission for prospective students interested in studying various disciplines of science and math.

This semester, the biannual Janus Forum welcomes two financial experts on the digital payment system known as cryptocurrency: former White House senior economic advisor Todd Buchholz and 43rd U.S. Treasurer Rosie Rios. They will discuss whether cryptocurrency is the Future of Money, or the End of the State as We Know It? on October 6, 2021, from 6:30 to 8 pm in Miamis Wilks Theater.

In a departure from its traditional in-person format, this summer Miami University held a virtual Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) for Student Leaders workshop for students from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Panama, Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela. The program is run by Juan Carlos Albarrán, professor of global and intercultural studies.

Five undergraduate CAS students, all seniors, have been awarded the Hannon Armstrong Foundation Climate Solutions Scholarship to help them pursue careers related to climate action and sustainability. The establishment of this new scholarship was announced in May.
