Combined BA + MA

The Department of Geography offers integrated undergraduate and graduate courses and training leading to a combined Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Geography with undergraduate majors in Geography & Sustainable Development and Urban & Regional Planning. This program is tailored to your interests, whether through applied research or critical theory and via an internship practicum or thesis. Students in this combined BA/MA program develop expertise and skills appropriate to become professionals in geospatial, community planning, real estate, sustainable development, international relations natural resource management, and data science. Thesis students in the combined MA program will be prepared to succeed in PhD programs. One-on-one faculty mentorship and access to department- and externally-funded research and scholarship are highlights to this combined degree.

The standard combined BA/MA program can be completed in less than 2 years, and scholarships are available on a competitive basis.

The combined BA/MA program allows students to complete an MA degree with 1 year of additional study beyond the bachelor's degree, and is available to qualified, tuition-paying students with any undergraduate major at Miami University. Please contact the Graduate Advisor for more information at
