Faculty Advisors

Students cheer on the Redhawks during a sporting event at Miami University.

Each psychology student is assigned a faculty advisor. Your faculty advisor will:

  • Assist with checking degree progress and meeting departmental requirement
  • Assist with academic planning
  • Provide information about graduate school and careers in psychology
  • Make referrals to other sources of information and assistance
Students may also meet with the Chief Departmental Advisor.

Reasonable Expectations for Advising

  • Psychology advisors’ primary help with Psychology requirements and academic issues.
  • Psychology advisors can also help with general questions about College of Arts and Science requirements and Miami Plan requirements.
  • Psychology advisors are prepared to assist students with issues pertaining to graduate school in psychology, after all, this is what we do. Advisors in other departments are likely to be a better source of information about graduate study in other fields.
