Students in the College of Creative Arts at Miami University were awarded 15 2021-2022 Three Arts Scholarship awards. The students were awarded scholarships in the categories of Instrumental Music, Vocal Music and Visual Arts in both undergraduate and master’s categories.
The Three Arts Scholarship Fund, Inc. has provided scholarships to female or female-identifying undergraduate juniors and seniors and master’s degree candidates majoring in the disciplines of Drama, Musical Theater, Music or Visual Arts at accredited colleges and universities within a 75-mile radius of downtown Cincinnati since 1953. The fund awarded $304,000 in scholarships for the 2021-2022 school year.
“We are tremendously fortunate to have such a resource in our area,” said Liz Mullenix, dean of the College of Creative Arts who will serve in an interim role as Miami’s Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs. “I am not surprised to see such a representation from Miami students, the creativity I see in the College of Creative Arts never ceases to amaze me.”
Scholarship recipient Lucy Osborne ‘22, who majored in Art Education and Art Therapy, said, said the scholarship money means a lot to her, especially as a first-generation college student.
“This scholarship has already taken huge weights off my shoulders and will work towards funding the rest of my academic career as I enter graduate school. Not only has the 3 Arts Scholarship and its foundation supported my career goals financially, but it has also served to show me that my career is one worth? pursuing.
“They believed in me and my work enough to allow me to attain these funds so that I could continue to make work. And that means more to me than I believe words can express."
