On April 4th, Nyama McCarthy-Brown, Ohio State's Inaugural Artist Laureate, graced Miami University Hamilton with her presence as part of her laureate tour. The occasion marked a first of it’s kind collaboration between two prestigious institutions in the realm of arts and education.
During her residency, McCarthy-Brown engaged with the dance program at Miami University, involving eight student dancers alongside Director of Dance Ashley Goos in a series of enriching activities.
The highlight of the day culminated in a presentation of dance pieces, showcasing the culmination of McCarthy-Brown's artistic vision and the collaborative efforts of the participants. Notably, the final work of the day integrated Miami dancers into the movement score, highlighting the seamless synergy between talent and creativity.
