Dear Students, Friends and Guests:

Thank you for visiting the website of Miami University’s Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.

The ECE Department proudly offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering, and the newly established Robotics Engineering. The Department offers a Master of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and supports a bachelor degree in Engineering Management. Qualified students may choose to enter the BS/MS combined degree program.

Our faculty and staff are committed to offer the best learning experiences and to graduate students who will find fulfilling jobs. ECE students will not only be immersed in fundamental engineering theories but also study current and emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, electrical vehicle, and smart-phone technologies. Our graduates are recruited by major companies and government agencies, such as Amazon, Apple, GE, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Air Force Research Lab as well as FBI. Some of our graduates have gone to major research universities to pursue their Ph.Ds.

Student learning and growth is our first priority in the ECE Department. Each admitted student is assigned an academic advisor upon confirmation of attending Miami. Small classes allow close student-faculty interaction and make it easier for our faculty to adapt to the needs of individual students. As an example of our commitment to undergraduate teaching, none of the ECE classes, whether lectures or laboratories, are taught by graduate students.

A most important characteristic of a Miami-ECE education is experiential and inquiry- based learning. All ECE courses either have a laboratory component or a significant inquiry-based project. Many of our students have more than one significant co- curricular or extra-curricular experience, such as, study-abroad/study-away, internship/co-op, or research. Please make sure to check the various class or capstone projects.

Have fun browsing our webpages. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me personally or any of our faculty and staff. We will also be very happy to talk with you in person while you visit our beautiful campus.
