Adam Beissel provides insight on Miami’s arena site selection process

As Miami University narrows its options for a new multipurpose arena, Adam Beissel, associate professor of sport leadership and management, offers expertise on the potential impact of the two proposed locations—Cook Field and Southwest Quad.

Beissel, who researches sport stadiums and urban development, discussed the possibilities in an Oxford Free Press article by Sean Scott, noting that the Southwest Quad site could establish an athletic hub near the Rec Center and Goggin Ice Center, while Cook Field presents an opportunity for a more integrated entertainment district.

Miami is seeking feedback from students, faculty, and staff through a survey open until Feb. 3, with the Board of Trustees set to receive an update on Feb. 28.
