Miami University will host the 10th Annual National Civil Rights Conference June 20-22 on the Oxford campus. This is the first time the conference is being held in the Midwest.
Several years of work led by Miami University's Truth and Reconciliation Project culminated with a narrative historic marker that is now a permanent fixture in the City of Oxford. An unveiling ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, June 21, in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park uptown.
Rodney Coates, a professor of critical race and ethnic studies in the department of global and intercultural studies at Miami University, will give a pre-recorded webinar lecture at 2 p.m. Friday, June 18, about the importance of Juneteenth in American history.
Five Miami University students received Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships to help fund their study abroad experiences this summer and during the coming academic year. The combined total awarded to these students is $20,000.
