As you may be aware, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was recently signed into law by the federal government; the IRS has issued the new income tax withholding tables for 2018 that reflect changes made by this law. Miami University has received the new tables and has updated our system to reflect these changes beginning with paychecks issued in February 2018.

Additionally, the IRS has instructed employers to use current W4 withholding certificates on file for employees to process payrolls. At this time, employees are not required to take any actions.

The IRS has indicated that a revised withholding tax calculator and revised Form W4 will be issued by the end of February. Miami University will continue to monitor all updates provided by the IRS and will send future communications as we learn more about the changes.
