Innovative Northeast Ohio Nursing Program offers unique opportunity for Miami Nursing students
The inaugural cohort of the Northeast Ohio Nursing Program is expected to begin Miami University coursework in fall 2027. This innovative program model offers multiple points of entry, including direct admission on the Oxford campus with a planned transition to the Northeast Ohio hub; direct admission for qualified high school students following completion of Ohio Transfer 36 and required nursing prerequisites; and a streamlined transfer pathway. Students who enroll will study in the Cleveland metro area and complete clinical rotations with leading healthcare providers and other clinical partners throughout the region.
Students will take classes in Northeast Ohio following their enrollment in the cohort program. Nursing coursework will be taught by Miami faculty.
“Our partnerships with NEOMED and Northeast Ohio healthcare partners blend the academic strength of Miami University with healthcare excellence,” Miami President Gregory Crawford said. “Our students will obtain crucial and intensive real-world training that will benefit the healthcare system in Ohio for years to come.”
The Northeast Ohio Nursing Cohort builds on Miami’s groundbreaking educational partnerships in healthcare. Earlier in November, NEOMED announced its collaboration with Miami and The Christ Hospital Health Network of Cincinnati to establish pathways for future generations of physicians training for a medical career in Ohio.
“This is a unique opportunity for our Nursing students to receive advanced, hands-on experience with a top healthcare system and provides a definite roadmap to a Miami degree and future success,” said Stephanie Nicely, chair and associate professor of Nursing. “Miami graduates of the Northeast Ohio Nursing Cohort will strengthen the talent pipeline by developing high quality nurses to meet healthcare partner needs.”
