Committed to fostering a secure environment, their offerings extend beyond law enforcement, encompassing various assistance programs for the benefit of the entire community.
Miami University has contracted with Omnilert (e2Campus) to provide emergency notification services to the university community via cell phone text messages and email. The system, "Miami Emergency Text Messaging System," is available to Miami University students, faculty and staff on all three Butler County campuses.
The Rave Guardian application is available to members of the university community at no cost for Android and iOS smartphones. Download from the Apple Store or Google Play.
MU students and staff must register here first before downloading and logging into the Rave Guardian App.
MUPD recognizes that at sporting, special events, and other times officers may be required to provide crowd and vehicular control and security. A fourteen-day advanced notice is required for all staffing requests. To request a quote prior to your event, please complete the form and add "Request a quote of estimated cost" to the additional information section. The quote will be sent to the point of contact.

The Miami University Police Department participates in the Ride-Along Program, in which an interested person can be an official passenger in a patrol vehicle. The passenger accompanies a police officer during part of a normal tour of duty. The primary purpose of a Police Ride-Along is to provide an opportunity for the community to see first-hand the day to day workings of law enforcement at Miami University. The Ride-Along guest receives important insight into what it means to be a police officer. Criminal Justice students and people interested in a career in law enforcement have found this program particularly useful. The Ride-Along Program fosters a better understanding of the challenges, hazards, and rewards of being a police officer at Miami University. This program also provides an opportunity for citizens to get to know their police officers and to know what to expect if they ever have a need to call for police assistance. Are you required by the court to have a Portable Breathalyzer Test conducted randomly throughout the year? We offer the portable breathalyzer test for a small fee of $5.00 per test. The service is offered 24/7 at the Police Service Center.

Miami University students may store university-prohibited weapons at the Miami University Police Department free of charge.
