Samuel has always had an interest in mental health, which developed into a passion for mental health research. He majored in Psychology as an undergraduate and graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University with a B.S. in Psychology in December 2018. Afterwards, Samuel pursued a graduate degree in Experimental Psychology at Augusta University, where he continued to develop his research interests. During his time there, Samuel gained valuable research experience working in an anxiety lab studying the effects of cellphone separation anxiety on state anxiety and test performance. Samuel also worked in a mortality salience lab as part of his graduate research internship and gained valuable experience in research design and development. Upon graduating from Augusta University in May 2022, he obtained an M.S. in Experimental Psychology. Samuel’s research interest in mental health led him to join the Discovery Center in July 2023 as a Research Assistant and Discovery Center Coordinator. In his current role, Samuel assists with various mental health related evaluation projects and communication tasks.
