“Why Miami?”
“Miami provided me with a sense of community. Growing up in a rural town, I am well aware of the limited healthcare resources and challenges those impose on impoverished families. The program’s emphasis on rural populations and pragmatic research influenced my decision greatly. I realized early that this would be the best place to hone my skills as a compassionate and well-rounded physician associate, where I could one day return and care for my own rural community. I was also drawn to the curriculum by my passion for research. Here I could explore clinical research in a way that not only serves my patient community, but my colleagues in healthcare as well. During my undergraduate laboratory experience I appreciated how important research is to progress medical care for patients. As clinicians it is our responsibility to constantly learn from each other if we are going to provide the best evidence-based answers for all members of our community".
