Some Workday tips for you to review prior to Go Live

Believe it or not, the go-live date for Workday is just about here. We are just a few short days away from July 1. So, we thought we would provide you with some tips and tricks that we thought might make things easier for you when you start working in the system. The great thing is that you can even start practicing them now in the Workday Test system by logging into MiamiOH.edu/workdaytest.

Reminder: Workday Delegation Training Sessions Scheduled for TODAY!

If you attended the Manager and Supervisor training sessions you would have heard about delegation within Workday. This is where you can assign certain tasks to someone else in your department while you are out on vacation, or if someone else handles them every day in your department, you simply grant them that access through delegation. Training sessions for Delegations will be held in two virtual one-hour webinar sessions today, June 21. Session times are 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Each session will last for one hour. Also, each session will be recorded for future viewing. To register for a course, please click the link below for the corresponding session.

Additional Phase I and Phase IIA Training Offerings

We also wanted to make you aware that the Workday Training Team will be offering additional remote Phase I and Phase IIA training sessions next week before Go-Live. Both of these sessions are scheduled for one hour via Zoom. These sessions will be offered according to the following schedule. Just click the link to register.

Information for Student Employees

Because the information that student employees need to know when checking in and out in Workday (formerly known as clocking in and out in TimeclockPlus) is the same as that for Classified Staff, managers of student employees are welcome to share those training materials (job aids) with your student workers or direct them to the Canvas site (Workday System Preview).

Course Videos and Job Aids

The Workday System Preview in Canvas provides recordings of each of the Workday classes that you can view. Along with the training recordings, you will find links to job aid packets, and for some of the classes, a copy of the presentation slides. The Canvas site also contains generic Workday job aids for a variety of topics.

You can also view the recorded training sessions and access the job aids directly from the Workday Test environment. To access this session in WorkdayTest, enter “LRN: Workday” in the search box at the top of your WorkdayTest page, then click on the class title you would like to view.  This same set of resources will be in our Workday Production system on July 1 when we go-live.

Website Resources

The Workday information website at MiamiOH.edu/workdayinfo contains a large array of project and system information that is topical for the entire Miami community. This includes:

  • A Go-Live Checklist
  • FAQs
  • A glossary of Workday terminology
  • A list of the systems to be replaced by Workday
  • Much more!

Post Go-Live Support

So you may be wondering, what do I do if I need assistance with Workday after the Go-Live on July 1? That is an excellent question and one that we have an answer for. Beginning July 1, if you have a question or issue regarding Workday, please create a support ticket at MiamiOH.edu/WorkdaySupport (this will not work for you until July 1), and your issue will be triaged and addressed as quickly as possible. There will also be a phone line available, and that number will be communicated next week.

Prior to July 1, all questions regarding the Workday system or training should be directed to Workdayinfo@MiamiOH.edu.
