Applied music requirement: 8 credit hours, includes two semesters at 142 level and two semesters at 242 level. Student must achieve sophomore standing in major applied area; typically this occurs at the end of the second semester of applied study.

Large ensemble requirement: Enroll in a large ensemble, in one’sprimary performance medium, each semester. Large ensembles are:Collegiate Chorale (MUS 100A), Men’s Glee Club (MUS 100B), Symphony Orchestra (MUS 100C), Choraliers (MUS 100D), Marching Band (100E), SymphonyBand (MUS 100F), Wind Ensemble (MUS 100G), and Chamber Singers (MUS 100Q). Entrance to each group is by audition. Pianists may fulfill the ensemble requirement through enrollmentin a large instrumental ensemble, a large vocal ensemble, accompanying (MUS 110/120), or chamber music as a pianist.Guitarists may fulfill the ensemble requirement through enrollmentin a large instrumental ensemble, a large vocal ensemble, or chamber music as a guitarist.

Seven semesters of recital attendance (MUS 140).

One semester of chamber music experience (MUS 139).

Functional piano requirement: Completion of MUS 261 or proficiency examination required.

Performance requirement:full recital insenior yearfeaturing the student’s original compositions(no credit; register for MUS 494).
