Howe Business Writing Award and FYIC Writing Award - Deadline: April 18, 2018

To recognize excellence in business writing, the Howe Writing Initiative sponsors two writing awards.

  • The FYIC Writing Award open to work completed in the First-Year Integrated Core (BUS 101, 102, 104 & ESP 103). Prizes awarded: 1st Place $300, 2nd Place $150, 3rd Place $50
  • The Howe Business Writing Award open to work completed in any FSB class except for the FYIC (BUS 101, 102, 104 & ESP 103). Prizes awarded: 1st Place $600, 2nd Place $300, 3rd Place $100

Students may submit multiple entries, and entries are open to teams (provided all members of the team wish to submit their work—prize money will be split). Please note that because of university rules award money may only be distributed to currently enrolled students.

Writing to be submitted may include reports, proposals, slide decks, memos, essays, etc.

Writing must have been done for an FSB course (in fall, winter, spring, or summer term), but there is no semester time-limit, so projects written in any year may be submitted.

To submit, please email your entry to hwi@miamioh.edu as an attachment. Include information on the following in the body of your email:

  • Course for which project was written
  • Semester and year of course
  • Instructor
  • Description of writing context (e.g., consultancy report to X business)

Deadline: April 18, 2018
