Bargaining Summary from the Meeting on Feb. 23, 2024

Labor negotiations continued with the Librarian bargaining unit on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, to continue working toward an initial collective bargaining agreement. The University’s bargaining team and FAM’s bargaining team worked from approximately 10 a.m. until approximately 2:45 p.m. at the Demske Staff Development Center on the University’s Oxford Campus.

To begin, the University presented a counterproposal on Grievance and Arbitration. The University also posed several questions related to the Union’s proposal on Online Instructional Content (proposed on Jan. 8, 2024). The Union then proposed the following proposals: (i) Credit Bearing Courses; (ii) Vacation and Holidays (iii) Sick Leave; and (iv) Academic Leaves. The parties then caucused.

Upon the parties’ return to joint session, the Union presented the following proposals: (i) Flexible Spending Accounts; (ii) Employee Health Programs; (iii) Retirement Plan Contributions; (iv) Salary Adjustment Studies; (v) Other Leaves; (vi) Reimbursement for Travel Mileage, Parking, and Tolls; (vii) Emeritus/Emerita Librarians; (viii) Employment of Members of Same Family; (ix) Mandatory Furloughs; and (x) Maintenance of Policies and Practices. Lastly, the Union presented a counter proposal on Grievance and Arbitration.

The parties will next meet on March 18, 2024.
